Producing metal parts in hard-to-machine shapes

Toray Precision owns a metal 3D printer for the molding of parts in complex shapes that don’t lend themselves to machining. It can create parts with hollow interiors for lighter weight, as well as mold a part in a single unit, improving performance and lowering costs.
Metal 3D printing has presented issues with dimensional precision and surface roughness, but Toray Precision can make up for this with the two-step machining technology it has built up in precision micro-machining and ultra-mirror surface finishing.

Solutions

Toray Precision offers the following technology and support.

Precision micro-machining

We machine parts in complex, intricate shapes with high precision and quality. Our technology can also be used for finish machining.

Ultra-finish mirror machining

A precision lapping plate is managed with nano-order strictness to provide a mirror finish to machined surfaces.
Artisan techniques (hand-polishing) are applied to detailed areas.

Metal 3D printer molding

We can use 3D data to directly mold complex parts difficult to make with cutting work.
